How Gecko Zappers Work

Light comes in different types, including UV, visible, and infrared.

UV light, measured in nanometres (nm), is particularly effective at attracting mosquitoes and other flying pests. To put it into perspective, one nanometre is a tiny measurement – a billionth of a metre!

Mosquitoes are most drawn to UV light at a wavelength of 365nm. Gecko bug zappers are specially designed to emit UV light at this ideal wavelength, ensuring maximum pest attraction.

Once pests are lured in, they come into contact with the high-voltage grid, which quickly eliminates them. The dead insects then fall into a handy collection tray at the bottom of the zapper for easy cleanup.

For the best results, place your Gecko bug zapper away from your entertainment area and other light sources. It’s also best to hang it about 2.5 metres off the ground to ensure optimal coverage.
